7th September 2003 - Met with Pat Robinson

I had the pleasant opportunity to meet with Pat Robinson in Copenhagen while he was over there lecturing. As always meetings with Pat are truly inspirational and mind provoking.

During our talks I got more literature leads as well as ideas on how to improve the flow through the CALM book writing. The general idea for the latter is to use strain as a measure for organizational and individual stress and through this look into ways on how information technology can reduce stress e.g. by coupling the organizational layers more loosely. Stress reduction can also be found by creating asynchronous processes in time within the organization as well as stretching and collapsing time for individuals.

For those of you who find this message slightly cumbersome; it will all become crystal clear once the CALM writings are done. For now, I will be revising my script as well as harvesting my notes from yet another fruitful rendez vous with Pat ;-)

The official homepage of Morten Middelfart and CALM. Computer Aided Leadership and Management (CALM) is an inspirational speculation on where mankind may be heading in the quest to leverage computer potentials for helping individuals and organizations to self-actualize their symbiotic potentials.

The time frame for this well-informed and provocative speculation on relatively near-term and more distant potentials is clearly within mankind's grasp. Dr. Middelfart argues persuasively that within the next one or two decades, symbiotic links with "intelligent machines" will surely leverage people's potentials, far beyond all human progress to date!

Altogether, a tour de force of well-informed contemporary insights and maturely reasoned speculation; affording possible stepping stones and a creative springboard for what may lie ahead. As has been said: "Man's reach should exceed his grasp; else what's a heaven for?
